Pay it forward – let’s make the world a better place

I’m sure that many of us want to make a difference, making the world a bit better in their own way. I know that it sounds impossible or utopic but I think that each and everyone of us can take a small step that could make the world a better place.

It is quite common to anticipate getting help from others and to think that someone should reach out a hand when we you are in need. But we have to change our perception and to focus on helping others instead!

Why should I help others, you think for yourself? Well, since you can make a difference, feel better about yourself, make someone happier and get help from others when you most need it. You take the first step in the right direction to change the world for the better!

Are you ready to take the first step and would like to get some inspiration?  Then I suggest that you watch the movie Pay It Forward (2000) – it is about a boy, Trevor, who got an assignment by his social science teacher to devise and put into action a plan that will change the world for the better. He calls his plan "Pay it forward", which means the recipient of a favour does a favour for other people rather than paying the favour back. By doing a favour for three people, asking each of them to "pay the favour forward" by doing favours for three other people, and so on, he manage to start a positive movement who grows rapidly and makes the world a better place.

Let’s all start practicing in doing something nice and helpful for people we know! Giving a recommendation, helping in finding a new job or even saying something nice that would make them feel better – not asking for anything in return rather than to pay it forward to others. If we all do so, we are going to feel better about ourselves and be sure that other would help us when we most need help.

Below is a short segment from the movie pay it forward, Enjoy and get inspired!

  2. I love this idea and movie! And I am also convinced that when we help someone else, we are in fact helping ourselves as well. Because in the end we are all connected.

Let's try to make life easier to others instead of focusing on our own problems - I'm sure that together we could all make a difference!
